“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”
Eleanor Roosevelt

The color red is one of the top two colors of all. Representing assertiveness, daring, determined, energetic, powerful, enthusiastic, impulsive, exciting, and aggressive. Red represents physical energy, passion, and desire. It symbolizes action, confidence, and courage. Red, the color of blood and fire throughout all of history, is associated with meanings of love, sensitivity, romance, joy, strength, leadership, courage, rage, anger, danger, and determination. It brings strength, sophistication and fun to a room when we use it in decors. So it was easy to know what I would paint theseOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA poppy-inspired flowers. Yellow, greens and aqua to dance along. With the pink circles, one of my favorite shapes, burst in. Look closely and you will see the texture. I love this process using a pallet knife and white texture paste. You can color to the paste but I wanted to be able to manipulate the colors in the various areas for depth and variety.

Each day I would step up to this painting feeling it wasn’t done yet. “Knowing” when a painting is done is a tricky thing for me. Not always sure what this one needed. Adding layers, colors and elements. Evolving….then “Confidence” appeared in the process.
