Description
Part of the Eyes to See series, this 12 x 12” abstract work is one of three pieces created for the exhibition—an invitation to look beyond the surface and experience the unseen beauty woven into everyday life.
Rich ultramarine blues and deep umber browns create both depth and warmth, while layered greens—phthalo and sap—echo the rhythms of nature and growth. Touches of iron oxide yellow move throughout the composition, carrying a sense of light, illumination, and quiet revelation.
As with much of my work, this piece is intuitive and expressive, built through layers of acrylic, mark-making, and embedded writing. Scripture is woven into the surface—not always meant to be fully read, but to be felt—adding texture, movement, and spiritual resonance.
Included within the piece are references to:
- Matthew 13:16 — “Blessed are your eyes because they see…”
- 2 Kings 6:17 — “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.”
- Matthew 6:22 — “The eye is the lamp of the body…”
- Proverbs 20:12 — “Ears that hear and eyes that see—the Lord has made them both.”
Together, these verses speak to vision, awareness, and the gift of seeing with clarity—both physically and spiritually.
